Murison Burns Collection

Since 1921 Dunfermline Carnegie Library has been the proud custodian of the Murison Burns Collection, gifted to the town by Sir Alexander Gibb, whose firm was responsible for the construction of the Rosyth Dockyard. The collector was a Glaswegian, John Murison, who had exhibited at the Burns Memorial Exhibition held in Glasgow in 1896. His entire collection, including pottery, portraits and other items came to Dunfermline.

The books are available to see by appointment as they are kept beautifully wrapped and in archive conditions at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries. Please email localstudies.dunfermline@onfife.com or telephone 01383602365 and ask for the Reading Room.
