Fife Cultural Trust is an ambitious charity; its vision is for Fife to be a culturally vibrant and rewarding place to live, work, study and visit.

The Role

With community at the heart of everything we do, as a Library Assistant, you'll ensure that every visitor to your library is welcomed into an environment that can serve their needs and ensure that they want to keep returning. As a key frontline staff member, you'll adapt to and acknowledge the diversity of our visitors and what they aim to get out of their visit to the venue, as well helping them to discover our wide range of resources and services.

Your passion for libraries as well art, culture and community engagement will be apparent as you help people do everything from discovering new authors, tracking their ancestry from our records and even helping them find their ideal job using all the resources at our disposal.

The Responsibilities

You'll ideally come from a service background, but it'll be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out. Naturally good with people, you'll be able to put customers of all ages and backgrounds at ease, whilst helping to promote our services.

Organised, efficient and thriving on variety, you'll be just as competent using IT and library management systems as you are running story times and craft activities for our younger audience. It goes without saying you'll need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, but you'll also need excellent administration skills, knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and the processes involved with the security and operation of a public building.

Applicants will thrive on delivering consistently excellent customer service and will be energetic, enthusiastic and have a positive and flexible ‘can do’ attitude. The successful candidate will receive a full induction and training will be provided for all aspects of the role.

Lone working may be involved within this role as well as being responsible for dealing with Tier 1 Local Officequeries.
