The Reading Room at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries

Welcome to the beautiful Reading Room in Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries. This is the space where you can research your family history, find out about the history of your house, street or town and consult our reference collection for answers that can’t always be found on the internet. This is also a great place to study as each desk is equipped with its own light and power socket adding to the calm and studious atmosphere. If you have a local studies enquiry please email localstudies.dunfermline@onfife.com , ask at the desk or ring 01383 602365. If you have time to spare come and have a browse through our extensive photo collection, local maps or local studies books . Ancestry institution.co.uk is freely available on every public PC, we have a full range of historic local newspapers on microfilm and our staff are very knowledgeable about  useful websites, online sources and how to do local research.

*No food or drink (except bottled water) is allowed in the room and if you are using any of our resources we ask that you use a pencil.
