Rosie Nimmo and Stuart Allardyce

This duo comprises Rosie Nimmo on vocals, rhythm guitar and harmonica and Stuart Allardyce on guitar. They share a wealth of musical experience spanning many years. They have already undertaken several interesting projects this year which included playing at Tradfest in April, and regular performances at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Leith. They have appeared for nine consecutive years at the Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival. They were also one of the main acts in the inaugural Portpatrick Jazz Festival in June and also played at the Leith Jazz Festival.

Rosie is also showcasing her own material in the Edinburgh Fringe at the Acoustic Music centre with her band which includes Stuart. Rosie and Stuart performed some of her new songs on the Culture Studio with Janice Forsyth on Radio Scotland last year, with the launch of her third original album, ‘Scrapbook’, and her songs have also received wider BBC radio coverage throughout Britain. Rosie’s songs have received a great deal of acclaim and reviews can be found on her website www.rosienimmo.com

The duo play a mixture of jazz standards mixed with blues, original material – from Rosie’s own albums, ‘Lazy and Mellow’, ‘Home’, and the aforementioned ‘Scrapbook’ as well as doing a few different takes on familiar songs. Rosie is developing a following in south west France where she started playing a few years ago and builds on this each year, while Stuart is also involved in his own interesting development as a member of the Captain Beefheart tribute band, Orange Claw Hammer. In addition to these solo ventures, Stuart and Rosie are also the founder members of the five piece blues/rock and soul band, Rosy Blue.

The Guardian introduced them as ‘a dynamic singer with a smooth band’ (140106) while Martin Lennon of the Edinburgh Evening News (090608) commented upon ‘Rosie Nimmo’s fabulous voice’ and of Stuart’s guitar playing he said ‘the guitar solo alone would have been worth a high price of admission’.

The Edinburgh Evening News said they ‘stand out from the crowd thanks to Rosie Nimmo’s confident and sultry vocals matched with an impressive repertoire of traditional and modern jazz numbers’.

Rosie and Stuart play for Cupar Blues and Beyond Club at Cupar Golf Club on Saturday 28 October 2017
