Oil on canvas, seascape, depiction of a shipwreck in a storm off the Isle of Wight, with men pulling lifeboat out to sea. The Rocket Brigade were lifeboat crew who would fire a rocket and line out to ships in trouble when it was too rough to go out in the lifeboat. The crew would hold onto the line and make their way to shore.
