Volunteering

We NEED You!

Much of the work we do would not be possible without your help.

We have a small but very hard working group of volunteers who come in once a week. If you enjoy history, research, cataloguing, practical hands-on tasks such as scanning or just being part of your local history, then please get in touch. You never know what you might find out!

Current Volunteer Projects

  • Researching WWI soldiers treated in the Fife and Kinross District Asylum
  • Cataloguing and scanning Council 1980s photographs of buildings in North and East Fife
  • Cataloguing and scanning slides of land reclamation work at former coal mining sites
  • Creating a name index for pre-1914 school registers of admission and withdrawal (23,000 names indexed so far, help us get to 30,000!)
  • The transcription of WWI letters from Rev. Monteith of Elie

A career as an archivist offers you a unique chance to be part of history. We can offer you a week long placement to try out different tasks and get a taste of what working life would be like.
