The greatest American jazz composer, Duke Ellington; Fife’s greatest jazz export, Joe Temperley; and the compelling Fife Jazz Orchestra (directed by master drummer, Tom Gordon) come together for a gala night of great tunes and exceptional musicianship.
Joe Temperley’s meteoric career saw his golden-toned baritone saxophone replacing Harry Carney in Duke Ellington’s Orchestra and when Wynton Marsalis founded the Big Band widely regarded as one of the best in the world there was only one non American in it – Joe Temperley.
Tonight, Joe presents a handpicked programme, featuring Ellington classics, with one of the top bands in the country.
