Transcriber: Glenrothes Oral Histories

Are you interested in oral history? We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to help us create full  transcripts of a number of oral history audio recordings relating to the history of Glenrothes. These transcripts will then form part of the resource that will be used by the Archives Team in planning the Glenrothes New Town 70th Anniversary events in 2018.

The role will involve working with a laptop and headphones (equipment provided) to listen to, transcribe and summarise ten oral history recordings. This is approximately 60 hours of work. If you are interested, we will also teach you how to use Audacity sound editing software to create short sound clips from the recordings that we will store in our publically accessible archive.

This volunteering position is based at our Archives Centre at Bankhead, Glenrothes (former Amazon Building) and we are looking for a committment of 2 hours a week. There is also the option for you to work further hours from home if you wish to.
